Hi,
I went through your website and I’ve noticed you’re quite a lot shooting on still cameras rather than video cameras.
I own a Canon XH A1 camcoder and I tend to get a lot of noise in black areas. How is it with noise in still cameras?

Hey Thomas,

Yes my camera (7D) and its big brother the 5D handle quite well in dark situations. Especially if you are shooting with faster lenses like the 50mm f/1.4. You can see how noiseless the image can be in a short I shot which you can find here: http://vimeo.com/7670522

I am new to filmmaking (I just finished film school at TTC in Charleston, SC). I have been an art teacher for decades, so this is a late in life change of career. I have been in theatre and taught drama classes, but have added filmmaking the last three years. I’ve been developing a cirriculum for home school high schoolers (we have a co op I teach in). This website is such an answer to prayer. I hope to mine it’s riches in preparation for this new school year. We are equiping, training and raising the next generation of filmmakers who are sold out to Christ.
I will be attending Karitos this year and look forward to meeting you (and attending your classes). I admit to strongly desiring (I won’t say covetting) a 7D.
blessings,
Karen DeLoach

Wow Karen that is great! Make sure you sit me down for a chat as Guy and myself have been considering teaching some home school seminars down the road. I would love to hear your thoughts. See you at Karitos!

Just saw your film ABORTION and The Making of…. love them both. The making of was great. I love the way you break down the shoot. Very informative. I would love to know what audio equipment you used. I am sourcing/pricing affordable audio for an on location shoot. Thanks.
